CGI scripts can be run from any directory on your site, as long as your FTP client can mark the .cgi scripts as "+x" or "0755" executable. Most FTP client softwares have this ability built in and is simple to use. Finally, if you prefer, iRev can provide a shell account for you on the server where you can write and edit your CGI and other website files directly. If you are familiar with a Unix shell account, you know that being able to use Vi, Pico, ee, etc to edit your scripts and chmod the files +x is a tremendous time saver.
