Every 5 seconds is 12 ftp upload times a minute 12 times a minute * 60 minutes an hour = 720 times an hour 720 times an hour * 24 hours a day = 43200 times a day 43200 times a day * 30 days a month = 1296000 times a month 1296000 times a month * 15 kilobytes = 19440000 kilobytes. 19440000 kilobytes = 19.4 gigabytes. So, yeah, you'd be over your monthly allotment by 18 gigs. But, if you don't run it 24/7, then clearly the forumula changes. Depending upon the webcam software you use, maybe there is a "Motion Detection" option, that only uploads pics when there's a change in the image. Or, perhaps, drop the interval to 30 seconds... that'd bring the traffic down to 2 gigs from 20 gigs. Or make the webcam image smaller in size, so its only 5 kilobytes instead of 15. If you're on a cable modem, consider not uploading the image, but linking to your cable modem's IP address from your website.. most webcam softwares have their own 'built-in' image server. If you're looking for a good webcam software, "Conquercam" is excellent. its what I use on the showroom webcam, where I upload an image every 60 secoinds to the server, but have a link for a "real time" cam that actually is served directly from the PC, not the server.
