Basically, you look for a very apathetic netsplit, one where people are dropping off slowly. When you're sitting in #netsplit and it says netsplit:irc.emory.edu but you haven't seen anyone drop off yet, you quickly jump on emory.edu. It's doing a slow desync sort of split, so it doesn't know that it's split yet. Once you're on emory.edu, which doesn't op on split, you quickly join the channels, and you'll find that no one else is there and you get ops. This is because the server is split or desynced but it doesn't know it yet. After about 10 seconds, the server will realize it's split and it will no longer op you, that's why you have to move quickly then you just ride that bitch to victory. even if there were other ops in the channel, if you can get ops on the desync, YOU will have the superior timestamp and you'll end up timestamping them sometimes. or it will just let you both keep ops. I almost had #n, but the bastard's bot deopped me in a second. known to op on split: irc.isdnet.fr ?? efnet.demon.co.uk ??
